Editorial and Corrections Policy

The VR4 Hearing Loss Editorial Team is responsible for the current publication. Our goal is to make hearing and vocational information understandable without overstating certainty.

Sources and verification

We prefer federal agencies, professional associations, primary regulations, recognized medical references and clearly identified historical project material. Volatile facts receive a verification date. We separate examples from individual advice and identify meaningful limitations.

Historical and AI-assisted work

Legacy text is treated as source material, not automatically republished. Current pages are reorganized and checked against cited sources. AI tools may assist with structure, editing or code; a responsible editorial review must check claims, links, locale, consistency and usefulness before publication. AI does not supply credentials or clinical judgment.

Corrections

Send the URL, disputed text and evidence to server@vr4hearingloss.net. We assess whether the issue is factual, interpretive or a matter of style. Material corrections should be made transparently and update the substantive revision date.

Conflicts and monetization

Editorial decisions are separate from advertising or sponsorship. The launch build contains no verified paid recommendation program. Any future material relationship must be disclosed on the affected page and in the advertising disclosure.

Page briefs and user needs

Before publishing, we identify the intended reader, immediate question, expected format, evidence, limitations and next useful action. Search terms guide discovery, but they do not justify separate pages that repeat the same answer. One canonical page should satisfy close variants.

Medical and legal material

Medical pages avoid remote diagnosis and identify urgent symptoms conservatively. Legal and benefits pages identify jurisdiction and direct readers to the responsible official source. Where a current qualified review has not occurred, we do not display a misleading review badge. Historical contributors are credited for their documented contribution, not for later edits.

Images and accessibility

Editorial images must explain or represent the specific page. Repeated icons do not count as evidence. We preserve useful legacy assets with provenance notes, create original informational diagrams where appropriate and provide alt text. Interface controls are tested for keyboard use, contrast and responsive layout.

Commercial content

Recommendations require a visible basis and meaningful tradeoffs. A product or service is not called “best” without a disclosed comparative method. Paid placement, affiliate links and samples must be disclosed, and commercial relationships do not prevent a correction.

Correction levels

Minor spelling or formatting fixes may be made without changing the substantive date. A factual change, reversed conclusion, changed official rule or material source replacement should update the page date and, when useful to readers, include a correction note.
